Large / virtual 56cm frame

Original bike (+ $1800 carbon wheelset) cost about $7500+ new.

I bought the bike from someone who had built up the frame with a mish-mash of lower level parts… but it was still crazy light.  So, I tore it down and re-built it with the following:

  • Shimano Dura Ace shifters
  • Shimano Dura Ace rear derailleur
  • Shimano Ultegra front derailleur
  • Ciamillo Zero Gravity titanium brakeset
  • Shimano Dura Ace cassette (12/23)
  • FSA SL-K carbon crankset (compact)
  • Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon stem
  • Ritchey Evolution carbon bars
  • Mavic Ksyrium eXalith carbon wheels

Now the bike is ridiculously light… like +/- 15 lbs.

The colorway on this is a really sharp looking three tone matte grey / silver / slate so I used a nice punchy yellow on the wrap and the brake housings–which plays of the yellow on the Mavic hubs.

The frameset is a 2012, but I’ve had the frame just sitting in a box in the shop for at least three years (just haven’t had time to build it up until recently).  And zero mileage on the bike since the new build.

(from Biketreks website):

“The unanimous feedback from our customers is just how enjoyable the CR1 is to ride. It comes down to the comfort and smooth ride feel that Scott have achieved through such a high tech, high quality carbon frame. Not only is it one of the smoothest rolling bikes around, the Scott CR1 is also one of the lightest, fastest and most responsive handling Sportive style road bike on the market.

The idea behind Scott’s CR1 SL Compact Double road bike is to offer the rider a bike with the weight, handling and specification of a pro team race bike but with a smoother, more comfortable ride experience to suit those riding longer miles and often on rougher roads. With the shop’s three most experienced road cyclists all riding a CR1 we can personally vouch for Scott’s success in producing such a bike and the feedback from all those that we’ve sold to have nothing but supported our belief in the bike.

Designed to absorb the shock and vibration caused by irregularities in the road surface the Shock Dampening System (SDS) in the Scott CR1 Carbon frame and fork gives you a brilliantly smooth, stable ride that greatly reduces rider fatigue meaning you can ride further in better comfort and enjoy every mile of it. All this and without the slightest effect on the bikes stiffness, speed and handling. While the geometry is still performance orientated, it is designed to offer a more comfortable riding position than a pure racing frame without compromising on an efficient riding position. It’s this makes the Scott CR1 SL Compact Double ideal for all types of road use from leisure riding to competition Sportifs.

Scott’s carbon fibre production is second to none and they’re now one of the last few brands to make their own frames by their own methods in their own factories so you can guarantee the quality and design of the bike is to the highest level. With a 5 year frame warranty and testing procedures that far exceed most carbon mountain bike standards you can be reassured you’re investing your money in the market’s best technology and materials.”

Very highly rated bike:

*** If you’re interested in the bike @ a lower price point I’d be happy to sell it without wheels… or with a cheaper / older wheelet for under $2000.
