Houston Area Riding Events
(Remember: You do not technically have to register for most big events to ride them. There is generally no one checking at the starting line to see who is registered and who is not. These rides are on public roads–and everyone has the same right to ride on those roads. But if you have a mechanical during the ride or need SAG for other reasons, it is generally not cool to use those services if you have not registered for the ride. But rides often get canceled due to weather… or you may not be sure if you will be in town (or in shape) for a ride weeks or months in advance… so, just showing up to ride if all of the stars line up is better than not riding at all. 🙂

*** Be advised that Waller County Sherrifs–who were formally paid to help w/ traffic control on this ride (but lost that gig)–have been known to stake out random intersections on this ride and act like they are controlling traffic–when in fact they are stopping riders and writing tickets when they roll through stop signs, etc–apparently as retribution against the ride organizers. Not a huge deal if you ride safely and don’t blow through any stop signs or red lights along the route–unless clearly waived through by a uniformed officer.

The fully supported ride will feature 28, 42, 56, 62 and 100-mile routes; something for every level of cyclist with many flat sections and gentle rollers. An open start begins at 6:45 am. The registration fee includes a post-ride lunch and t-shirt.
